Comment by David Rose-Crisman on September 29, 2015 at 4:01pm: I am trying to find the ancestry of Benjamin Rose, born abt 1788 in VA. He had a son named Emmanuel who appears in the 1850 census for Hamilton County, TN.

Comment by Don Rose on November 26, 2013 at 12:31pm: My gg gf was Mason ROSE who died at the end of the Civil War in Chattanooga.

1860 Census record says Mason was born in NEW YORK.
His Civil War military file has two papers stating he was born in OHIO.
He bought land in Allegan Co, MI on the same day as an Andrew J. ROSE who was born in OH (Census 1860).

The lots were adjoining. The land was purchased from Eliza (ROSE) HOWARD and her husband, Daniel.

I am trying to find out the state and county where Mason was born.

I am also looking for Mason's parents and siblings.

Y-DNA tests prove that Mason descends from the Dutch ROOSA family that settled in Ulster County, NT in 1660.

Fought in the Civil War and lived out his days in Jennings County, Indiana. He married and had 7 children: Mary, Ada, Harry, Everett, Rhedonia, Burtha, and Clarence.

Comment by D on August 16, 2012 at 4:48am: My grandmother was Vera Rose(b1891d1973) Her father was Lewis Rose(1854-1935) both of WV. His father was James Rose(1830-1920) married to Esther Sansbury---can't get any farther than him. Does anyone have any ideas?

Comment by Darlene O'Brien on August 15, 2009 at 12:47pm: My Grandfather was Lawrence Rose from Kentucky, married my Grandmother Marie Seabury in Hawaii in 1916
He was in the Army at the time, pretty much all I know.
I may have found records of him dieing in 1989 at age 90 in Whitley Ky.
