In lieu of the recent tragedies surrounding Burr Oaks cemetery, as well as in honor of my ancestors still missing in the search for the Santa Fe Cemetery, I thought I'd take a cemetery "walking" on Sunday afternoon, and take pictures of what's left of the old black section of Elmwood Cemetery in my hometown. Used to be that only African Americans were allowed to be buried in the farthest back portion of the cemetery, away from the main entrances, etc. Here is what's left of that section...it is truly so very sad to see what is obviously a section full of folk laid to rest, without markings to identify who rests there. May you continue to find your peace, those who are not to be disturbed!
