Lesley, Yes the Sayers originally came from Norfolk. I have most of the information up on http://thecorys.com/sayer. The earliest Sayer I have: James Sayer was born in 1751 in Carbrooke, Norfolkshire, England. He died on 1 Apr 1836 in Carbrooke, Norfolkshire, England. He was buried on 7 Apr 1836 in Carbrooke, Norfolkshire, England. (1) He was a Farmer.
Entry in Kelly's Directory for Cambridgeshire, Norfolk & Suffolk, 1883, p.270.
