Comment by Carolyn Dunlap Franklin on January 1, 2011 at 5:17pm: I believe that my paternal line is from Scotland. We did the Y-DNA 67 test confirmed haplogroup J2a4b, shorthand is J-M67. Since the J2 group is from the Fertile Crescent in the Middle East I am doubtful there are many J2a4b's in Scotland but if there is I would like to hear from you.

Comment by grady puryear on November 30, 2010 at 9:45am: I am so Scot it is unbelievable. My Maternal side (Allardyce) is 100% till it got diluted a bit over here. On my Paternal side is Christal, again 100% till the 1800's over here, plus Speer and on and on. My great great grandmother was a Roe, and there is the connection to the Bentinck, like I said, it goes on and on. They seem to have come to Nova Scotia and then on south. I know more about the Allardyce line than any of the others, anyone interested give me a shout.

My mother's maiden name was Beatty and they came from Northern Ireland.Also, my great great mother and her family, the Crawfords, immigrated in 1831 from Londonderry, Ireland. Both surnames are searchable in my family history book uploaded for research on www.searchingforgrandfathers.com.

Comment by Louise Acheson on March 10, 2010 at 9:54am: I am searching for an Acheson/Atchison family that came to Canada in the year 1840 give or take a year. They had a son David Atchison born in April 1839 Ireland. It is not known if it was Sligo or Fermanagh. There are rumors or each.Later he went to Iowa USA and his son to North Dakota USA. David married Margaret Robinson in 1862 Pembroke Ontario Canada. Any info on Achesons comeing to Canada in 1840's wqould be greatly appreciated.

Comment by David C Abernathy on March 7, 2010 at 3:19pm: I am searching the Hugh Abernathy line. He was in Laurens District, South Carolina in the late 1700's and then on to the Indian Country, (Indiana) where he died in 1826 in Fountain County, Indiana. We have record that he fathered 17 children and by at least 2 wifes.
It was reported on the census of one of his son's that he (Hugh) was born in Ireland. The Abernathy line is from Scotland and per "Scottish Clan and Family Encyclopedia", the line is now part of the Fraser Clan.
I have found not connection to Ireland, it appears that Scoty aboard the Enterprise beamed Hugh and maybe other to the Colonies. [evilgrin]
