John Scott, PA to Harrison Co, KY, 1778 - 1857

I have just begun to look into the origins of my ancestor John Scott. It appears that his oldest son was probably named either Francis or John. I thus find it interesting that a Francis Scott is in the 1790 census in German Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. That is the (also 1778) birthplace of John Waits, another ancestor who was a neighbor of the Scotts in KY. I have found no evidence as yet that there is a connection to that Francis Scott and hope someone knows one of these Scott families.
