Hi everyone! My name is Lee and I just joined this group. I love to research my family history and put the puzzle together! I also love to look at scrapbook pages....they are so beautiful and creative, however I have only done 1 basic, simple scrapbook page before. I love the idea of trying to put my information in a scrapbook! It will be a challenge for me, but hopefully with the help of this group, it will work like magic! I am so looking forward to seeing everyones work!

I have just barely skimmed this group and I am so excited to see so much creativity and the great ideas...I have mounds of family data and I have been collecting scrapbooking materials for some time, so I could put all the data together to hand down to the next generation. Thank you Katrina for starting this group!

I always get inspiration from looking at other websites. It's as simple as searching for family websites online. I seem to find at least 1 item or comment that has given me an idea to take a page in a new direction. I usually start out with 4 or 5 pix for a page and try to think of a title for the page or event. From there, just let your imagination lead you. The first thing I started with was a favorite pix of all the aunts and uncles and my grandparents taken during a wedding. Journaling added lots of family info. Remember, it' s your scrapbook, you are the artists. I have to say, I see a huge difference in my first scrapbooking efforts to what I now do. Good luck, and have fun!

I'm desperate for layout ideas. Over the past few years I've collected lots of paper and trim I'm thinking will work for my genealogy, but just haven't quite taken the plunge with the scissors yet....inspiration?

Hi Everyone, I just found this website and this group. I scrapbook and do genealogy and have started a book but sort of lost interest. Maybe this will give me ideas and get me started again. Thanks for letting me join!

Ok people we have 115 members as of this morning. Let's see if we can't get a little more involvement. Thank you to those of you who shared your creations with us. But we are hungry for more, so y'all start postin' :)

Seriously, let's get this group rocking. What could be a better combination than family history and scrapping? If you are just starting, then surely you have some questions? And feel free to join the free personal training I'm offering by sending an email to classes@genscraps.com. I would love to see everyone in here to have some pages for the start of a spectacular heritage book in a month or two :)

In case you missed me email this morning, I have put a lot more samples up for display on our home page. I would like for some of you who do digital scrapping to send in some examples too, so people see more than my own style, especially pages without photos.

Genealogy got me started scrapbooking and now I have 2 obsessions! I have never done digital scrapping because I love the feel of paper in my hands. I recently completed a scrapbook totally without photos. When my uncle died I inherited all of the letters he had written home when he was stationed in Europe with the Air National Guard, during the building of the Berlin Wall. The letters tell of all of his travels around Europe, and one in particular tells of a bus trip he took between East and West Berlin. These letters are priceless to me, and I didn't want to glue them onto my pages, so I had to come up with a creative way of displaying the letters. Each page is devoted to one letter. I then journaled about what the letter was about, attached a pocket to the page which I put the actual letter in. That way I kept all the original letters so they can be read and enjoyed, but you can get as much pleasure from just looking thru the book. He also had kept pamphlets from places he had visited and those are also kept in pockets.
