James Fred (or Frederick) Smith family in Marion County, Florida

My maternal grandfather was James Fred(Frederick) Smith, who lived on a farm in Marion County, Florida; possibly Fellowship was the town/settlement. My mother said that her father had a store in the area. He married Bessie Freeman. Their children were: my mother Bessie, sons Harold (Buster), Fred (J.Fred), John Levis Smith, and youngest daughter, Kathryn, who died in an automobile accident when she was 14. He and my grandmother separated and he was never in touch with his family again, as I heard it.

Does anyone think this sounds vaguely familiar?
