Hello All,
I do not have much info on my dads smith heritage, except to know there are A LOT of Robert smiths, my father-Robert smith, his father- Robert smith and so on. But i'm curious to know where the smith family was in ireland? Thank you for any help you can offer.
Aidan
Hi, Linda.
To help in your researching of James B. Smith, bear in mind that after the Revolutionary War the counties of western Virginia beyond the Appalachian Mountains were known as Kentucky County, Virginia. The area was not a State until June 1, 1792 (and, it was a major source of bounty land for Rev War vets). This might point you more toward Virginia records for help. ---Cheers, Gary Smith
