Could someone tell me what information is given on marriage certificates in Sullivan County.
My gr.grandfather, Patrick Neville and gr.grandmother, Lizzie Carter Neville were married

The state of NY did not begin collecting marriage records until 1881. Prior to 1784, marriages were recorded by the territorial governor. I don't think there was anything official for the years in between. It might be possible that Sullivan Co. recorded some information prior to the 1881 date unrelated to the state requirement, but I can't find anywhere online that indicates that is true. You might find a church record.

Thanks Catherine. Your advice saves me from alot of needless searching in the wrong places.
I will concentrate on church records and just maybe I will have luck.........Ginny
