McIntosh was my 3 X Great Grandfather he maried Catherine Cormack in 1825 they had 9 children. he has proven to be very elusive in my searches. His wife depending on the census is shown born in both Caithness, Scotland and in Ireland on another. Seems my family had to be Sutherland and Cormack, two of the most used names in Caithness.

I found the family on the 1841 census by 1851 McIntosh was no place to be found and have had no luck finding his death either.

My line is through their son David Sutherland 1836 who married Janet (Jessie) Bruce 1832.

Researching the Sutherland/Cormack and Bruce lines tend to be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Sandra you may be interested in checking the Sutherlands of Stockyard Hill website http://stockyardhill.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?view=6&userid.... I have Grandmother coming from this family to Western Australia. Her stepdaughter, Silvia married an Angus McIntosh from the area west of Ballarat. I have married a Mackintosh & I wouldn't be surprised to find links between the 2 families. Caithness, Scotland is the origin we think of the marriage at least of William Alexander Sutherland (b. 1830 - 1920) whose father was James Sutherland & mother Elizabeth Keith.
