Here is my brick wall:

Daniel Ros b- 14, May 1774. His father's name was Magnus so he would have been Daniel Magnusson before he entered the military. At 20 years old, he had been a soldier for 1 year and 5 months. I have all of his military data. I also have the information from the time he was married until his death March 7, 1833 in Satila.

I am looking for where he was born. According to his military records, he is listed as being from Bohuslan, Upplanning & Skaraborg. I have posted many times on the Rotter board & had many people help but he has not been found.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Donna

Hi, I suggests that you check this: http://soldat.dis.se/soldater.php
There is an address to a man who do soldier research. He can give you quite much info, perhaps it will take a little time, but it´s not expensive...;)
Otherwise, tell me and we try something else;)
Regards, Yvonne
I have done this already and have all of his military data. That is where I got the information with the 3 locations of his birth. Like I said, I have hit a big brick wall!
Thank you for your reply & link. All is appreciated.

Ok, I see, I thought it should have been some info in the papers about his soldier life. What info do you have about him? I see you mention Bohuslan, Upplanning & Skaraborg..is there something more..? I checked the church records and all their children seems to have been born in Sätila, they are also married there, but I did not find Danilel born in Sätila.

There is no other information that I have found on him. All I can think of is to do a search by birth year for each area but...that would take years! Sigh.

Thank you for your help.

Do you have access to Genline or Arkiv Digital?
No I don't have either one. I did at one time (Genline) but let it expire. After that I just posted on the Rotter board. It's a lot of territory to cover & I am doubtful I will ever find him.
I do think he should be born quite nearby were they lived...and perhaps the birht date could be wrong, That happens quite often because they were not so careful with dates, it is a long time ago...
Do you want me to do some research? If you go to my webpage: www.swedenroots.se and send me an e-mail from there, and also attach the info you have , so far, and I could take a look...;)
