hello

I have a Mathilda Theresia Sjöberg born 1823 she died in the chlorea epidemic in 1853, I was able to get the details of her three children one of whom is my great grandmother Elisabeth Landroth who was adopted by Sven Landroth and Anna Bjurling. The other two children Maria Mathilda Sjöberg and Carl Frederik Sjöberg. Is there anyone who knows who the father of Mathilda's children were? Mathilda parents were Henric Larsson Sjöberg and Maria Christina Blomberg. Maria Mathilda Sjöberg was later adopted by Carl Gustaf Hierzeel.

any info on the above mention names would be great

I can not find them in the birth records of the parish which they are said to have been born.

However, I did find the death record of the mother Matilda Theresia Sjöberg. And it did state the birth dates and baptism dates for the three children.

Now we come to the bad bit. It is most likely that all three children are born out of wedlock and therefor it will be rather hard work of finding out whether you actually can find some records of the father/fathers name/names.

Why do I believe the children were born out of wedlock? Well, the were given the same last name as their mother, Sjöberg.
This is a practice most commonly used when the children are born out of wedlock to an unknown father.

Without the birth records it might be hard. Not impossible but hard.

Here are a few dates if somebody else want to try and find them.

Mathilda Theresia Sjöberg (b. 10 Aug 1823 Stockholm, d. 12 Sept 1853 Maria Magdalena Parish, Stockholm)

Carl Fredrik Sjöberg (b. 1 Oct 1843 Baptised 9 Oct 1843)

Elisabeth Sjöberg (b. 27 Sept 1847 Baptised 2 Oct 1847)

Maria Mathilda (b. 28 Feb 1851 Baptised 4 Mar 1851)
Hi Richard
Thank you! you have found the same as me but did all the children have the same father? What I like to know is are there any adoption records for either Elisabeth and Maria. I was told that Sven Landroth was a silk manufacturer and Mathilda Theresia Sjöberg was employed by him then he adopts her daughter Elisabeth are there any record of that. Mathilda's parents are they Henric Larsson Sjöberg and Maria Christina Blomberg. Did she have siblings Anna Catharina and Eric Johan. Who adopt Carl Frederik Sjöberg? Who did Carl, Anna and Johan marry?
regards
and some more info and questions

Sorry for asking so many questions in regards to below hope you can help please.
Anna Margareta (Greta) Nyberg born 1786 15/10 and Buried 25/11 1871 på Norra begravningsplatsen in the same grave as Landroth and Pettersson. Anna Nyberg's husband was E. Nyberg, so Nyberg was not her maiden name. Sven Landroth's wife is Anna Birgitta Bjurling. Could Anna Nyberg be Sven's sister? And what is her husband's name E Nyberg? Anna Nyberg was a "sillpackaråldermansänka" which even for us Swedes is a rather long compound word. It means she was the widow "änka" of a man packing herring "sill" and he was also an "ålderman" which is a voted chairman for workers of a particular trade. There seem to have been four unmarried women living with Anna Greta Nyberg 1855, three merchant daughters by the name Hultgren and a Miss Lundberg. They were buried not far apart in time in the same grave. Perhaps someone with more knowledge in burial traditions can explain this but to me it sounds strange to bury unrelated people together.

These two women below are the wives of Bengt Landroth is it possible to get their surname?
Karin Laila Margareta Landroth
Runa Birgit Landroth
His first wife was Brita Malin Elisabet Moureau no marriage date
second wife was either Runa Birgit? or Karin Laila Margareta ?

who is this woman? what is her connection?

Charlotta Albertina Nyman born 1822/01/25 she was named in Sven Landroth's will

Hello,

I found yr questions concerning Mathilda Theresia Sjöberg when I was looking for Car Gustaf Hierzeel. I have some informations that can maybe of yr interest: Carl Gustaf Hierzeel had one daughter, adopted. She married to Johan Adolf

Strandberg. They had two children, a son Olof Strandberg who was my grandfather (my mothers father) and a daughter Maria who was married to a priest Wahl and lived in Norrköping. My grandfather went to USA in the begining of the 20th century and did never come back and nobody knows what happend to him. In the family they thaught that he could have commited a suicide. His sister Maria had no children. I live in France since 1964, but I have summerhouse in Falsterbo. In my bedroom in this house I have a portrait-painting of Maria Matilda Hierzeel as a young girl. I also have a photo of Carl Gustaf and Eva Hierzeel. If you wish more info y're welcome.

Best regards

Gunilla Åkerberg (my mother was born Strandberg)
