Stacey

Group has not been very active lately. You will need to get to the parish your ancestors came from in Sweden. That is where main records were kept.     If you are just beginning, visit   wiki.FamilySearch.org and read the portal entry for SWEDEN.

Is this group active?
My aunt and I have just started researching our neglected Swedish line.

Alan, please email, as I think we may have some ancestors in common.

My grandmother's family lived near J?nk?ping, where her father had a farm. The family lost the farm and were near destitute about 1886. Any idea where I fight find records to learn more about their farm failure? It was Gragaryds rote, Dann?s Parish.

Thank you, very much, Jean!  I'm not sure if I would have found it.  That C:3 volume is very hard to read in Ancestry records.

I am having a very difficult time finding a Birth Record in Vireda, Jönköping for the date 22 October 1793.  I usually can decipher the records.  But the records for 1792-1795 are just horrible for me to read.  Would someone be able to find the Image or Page number for me?  My 3rd great grandfather's name is Johannes Larrsson.  Thank you very much!

I think an ancestor had several children after she was 40, all illegitimate.  Could not find a different mother that would work.   Have you had ancestors giving birth in their 40's.

Thank you Jean.  I just looked at that site and after this month, but before July 1st, I will sign up for them.  The site I am on is http://riksarkivet.se/ which looks very similiar and what is funny after I signed up for one month a few days ago, I saw the 2 month deal on there.  Then by accident I downloaded the app to my iPad for your site and realized I had the wrong program.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Diane

Yes, I have a subscription to ancestry, but they don't have all the records yet, but Imliked going thru the pages of the church books. Genline shows the new records they are working on, but it seems odd that I can't just join them as I did in past. Plus, ancestry doesn't always show the hard copy, only a typed version like on the death records.
I am slowly learning my way around this Riksarkivet website. Is Archivdigital another website and excuse me for not knowing or is it encompassed within Riksarkivet?
I also agree that this Riksarkivet website is tricky.
Appreciate your thoughts on this topic.

Genline was bought by Ancestry a few years ago and was to be folded into Ancestry, which has the Swedish records, but I don't like it.  When that happened,  I switched to ArchivDigital and find it a better database but had a learning curve to use it.
