Sherry, I wanted to thank you again for posting the link to the site for old sawmill towns. I knew that a few of my Jordan family lived at one time or another in Jefferson Co.. Just "where" wasn't really sure. Most had been involved in sawmills so I started my search from there. From some early documents I found out some had lived in the old Pine Island Community about 8 -10 miles from Sour Lake on Pine Island bayou. Sour Lake is in Hardin Co. but Pine Island Community was on Jefferson Co. side of Pine Island bayou(in what was later called Westbury). According to my family lore there was an old unmarked cemetery located somewhere in these woods and I hope to oneday be able to locate it. My dad was able to find it before he died and according to him it was really grow up and what ew head markers he found were made of wood. So I would guess today most of that is gone. But thinks again!!
