I have just added a page to the website under Texas Ghost Towns.

Grand Cane was Sam Houston's plantation on the Trinity River in the 1840s. The name was changed to Ironwood about 1869.

It was while I was reading the 1897 Liberty Vindicator and saw several references to Ironwood that I began to research this community. Those snipets will be posted on the site later today.

In about 1900, the name was changed again to Clarke, now commonly known as Clark. In 1948, due to the voting precinct for Clark merging with Rye, the town began to dwindle and by 1990, just a few old buildings and a gravel pit was all that was left to tell it's tale.
