Hi its 18 months later and i have made lots of progress. It turns out that my Wilson Stebbing was from Mildenhall in Suffolk. His father was William Stebbing born about 1758. Apparently there was a lot of confusion about the exact location of the Norfolk/Suffolk border in those days.
He and his family moved to kings lynn sometime between about 1805-1821. Brothers Wilson, William, Thomas, Whitred, Henry and sisters Mary, Catherine, Elizabeth. William senior died in 1829 In Kings Lynn. Their mother was Mary, ex Wilson, born about 1761.

My Norfolk Stebbing ancestors were William Wilson Stebbing born in about 1790 and his wife Caroline Knight born about 1800 in Feltwell or Methwold.
William Wilson Stebbing gives his place of birth as Meldon Hole, Norfolk in a Devon census but there is no such place. I would be interested in opinions about where 'Meldon Hole' may be.

My Sebbings come from the village of Hilborough. I have traced back to my 3x great grandparents William Stebbings and Sarah Hybbard who married there on 11 December 1822 and had 8 sons before William died in 1844.
