I am trying to trace my GGGrandfather. He was from Wales and his son Richard Henry Thomas my GGrandfather was sent to fight against the Boers in South Africa. I presume that my GGGrandfather was also Richard Henry Thomas. Any one know how I can trace him.

Tracing Thomases is like trying to count dandelion seeds while they're floating away. Anyway, I've traced my Thomas, in WV, line back to William Saul Thomas (known as Saul) whose father is also named William. Saul Thomas, my gggrandfather, was born in 1826 and died in 1905. "William" was a popular name in my line. I think the William Thomas who was a native of France goes back another two generations. If you (anyone) can tell me how to start a search in France , I would appreciate it. I have no other information on him. Thank you. Roberta Baum
My Thomas ancestors settled in Pennsylvania in and around Cumberland County before the Revolutionary War and eventually moved to far eastern Tennessee, near the Virginia state line.
i have Thomas' that are from LA, my earliest findings are in West Baton Rouge, some went to St. Landry Parish and my actual ggrandfather ended up in Winnsboro, LA - majority of his 9 children ended up in Northern California.
I have some Thomas's in my fathers side of the family in central PA and have some
data. if anyone is interested. Ranging from about mid 1700s to the mid 1900s.
Mostly just names and dates.

I am attempting to trace my Thomas line which apparently started in France. William Thomas and his brother (no name) came to this country just before the Revolutiionary War, in 1774. He and his brother were scouts and settled in WV. Williiam married, started a family, and then was killed by indians. I would appreciate anyone's telling me how to search in France. Thank you. Ann C.Thomas + John [Jonathon?] Davis (m. 1699 Wales) =
Evan Davis (Wales) + Mary Emory Williams (m. 1754 PA) =
Samuel Emory Davis (v. 1756 SC) + Jane Cook (b. 1763? SC ; m. 1783 SC)
These last are Jefferson Davis' parents. I am hoping someone out there has more information on Ann C. Thomas :-)
J.M. Thomas, I have emailed you, but haven't heard from you, so thought I would email you here. I haven't ever heard the story about Charles killing someone. Very interesting. I have found Matthew Thomas in the 1860 census in Miss., but not the other censuses. I would definately like to dicuss these Thomases further with you.
I am researching the Thomases of Toronto, Ontario, Canada originally from Harwell, Berkshire, England. They were originally from Wales in the 1600's but there are a lot of Thomases in Wales.
