Hi,
I am trying to find out a few things on my G-Grandfather & my G-G-Grandfather.

His name is John Thomas Turner or (John Thomas Whitfield Turner) 1846
He has a headstone that states: Pvt. Co K Hoods Brig- 5th Texas Inf CSA & a Obit. that states he was also in Forrests Armies.
The story is he lied about his age & was barely 15 when enlisting. He had a diary but it is missing so far. My father said he read in the diary something about John...holding the horses. My father said that the story was, John kept the horses during the war.

The other G-G Grandfather is my John Turner's wife's Father, Gilbert Wroten. (We don't know if it's Rotten, Wroten, Rhoden, Roden, Rodan???)
The statement by a family member that spoke with Eliza Wroten Turner 1861, says Gilbert died on the way home from the war & Eliza was raised with another family. However I have seen no evidence through Census?
I cannot find a single Confederate Record on Gilbert accept a William G. Wroten in Louisiana, Gilbert was born near New Orleans, LA. He probably died between 1861-1865. 1870/1880 Census has Rhoden for Eliza.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!

"I cannot find a single record.

Bennie, thanks, but that's not him. He died in 1907. I have contacted a distant relative. She thinks Thomas Cochran from Co. G Alabama Infantry is actually him. I'll have to do some more investigating.

TerryAnn, I found Meldrick Hand on Facebook. He's listed as M. M. Meldrick. If you will send me your email address, I will send you his Compiled Service Record...

Hi,
His name was Meldrick Marion Hand. He was born in GA 1-19-1837, but moved to LA and his unit was from LA. Sorry I do not have the name of the unit. He died 9-17-1863 in the battle of Sharpesburg, MD.
Thank You,
Terry

I am looking for someone that lives around Birmingham, AL and can get a copy of my GG Grandfather Civil War Records. The library there has a wonder department upstairs with most Confederate records. Any help would greatly appreciated.

I am trying to help a lady with come Union service records. I checked on footnote and he is not listed but she does have service details. If someone who knows more about the Union side could assist, that would be great!!

Here are her details on her ancestor, John Preston Wadkins, born in Perry County, Ky in Sept 1825:

Name: [John] Preston Wadkins
Enlistment Date: 13 May 1865
Enlistment Place: Irvine, [Estill Co.] Kentucky
Side Served: Union
State Served: Kentucky
Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 13 May 1865.
Enlisted in Company G, Three Forks Battn Regiment Kentucky on 16 Jul 1865.
Mustered Out Company G, Three Forks Battn Regiment Kentucky on 17 Jul 1865 at Irvine, KY.

Sources: Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Kentucky

I looked on footnote but could not find anything on him.

Many thanks in advance!
