I am interested in ordering some microfilm from the Library of Virginia. I understand that I have to do this through my local library. Does any one have experience in doing this and was it sucessful?
I live outside of Virginia, so it will be a long time before I can make it to the state.

you can go to the lds family history center they should be able to help u get it or call your local library to find out if they can get it
Sorry that you can't make it to the LVA in person - but they do have an excellent online presence! You probably have already made good use of their digitized resources, but in case you have not - here are some LVA links to help you out.

If you haven't guessed, I love the LVA - I had the chance to attend an educator's conference on digitized primary source materials at the LVA this summer. As a 4th grade teacher in Fairfax County, as well as a native Virginian, it was an exciting visit - a great event! I had the chance during a lunch break to zip upstairs and locate the film rolls which contained tax and land use records of Stafford County, Virginia during the immediate pre-war years and was able to see the information in script which previously I had only seen in "annotated" form. Neat stuff!

I am a descendant of Garrisons, Atchisons, and Stevens lines of Stafford County.
Thank you both for your input. Yes, I have looked at their online information, but my family branches were not there.

I will give this a try this winter. I will do a write up on my experience. I have alot of Virginian families, so I need to do this to further my research.
