Looking for service records of Manning Claflin (m. 1815 Fanny Claflin in Attleboro, MA). I have General Index Cards dated 1901 & 1903 from the War Dept., Record & Pension Office, NYC indicating War of 1812 service. One card lists him as from either MA or RI. With NARA closed, I don't know where to look.  Any ideas??

Looking for info on Charles and Catlett/Katlet  Tiffee.  I know they were listed as serving, but little other info for them and where they served.

Hi, I am researching my ggggrandfather Peter Ream also surname is Riem or Riehm. He was born about 1787, don't know where or who his parents are but I did find 2 Peter Ream's that were in the war of 1812. If anyone has info on this please contact me. Daniel M. Ream

 I have found some family notes that say my Great Great Grandfather Francis Preston Richmond born in Maryland  April 3, 1783 was a Commander in the War of 1812 but I have not been able to find any documentation.  Any help would be appreciated.

My great-great-great-great-great grandfather, Peter Pickard, was a veteran of the War of 1812, serving in New York.

Oh you're welcome Duane. I actually was thinking I should put up an album on my page maybe with some more pics as I didn't want to post too many on here. I used to work for government office that administers historic sites in NOTL (Niagara-on-the-Lake) so we took care of Fort George, Navy Hall, Butler's Barracks, etc. Did you make it to the Drummond Hill Cemetery in Niagara Falls when you were here?? Have you checked out Discover1812.com? Bicentennial should be big in 2012, they are sinking dollars into getting ready for it with events, etc. :)

What nice pictures. I really appreciate them. I was at Fort Niagara this summer, Fort George and Fort Erie. I live in Murrieta California and drove 8100 miles to Vermont, Pa and to Canada and to the Niagara Area. Loved Niagara on the Lake. It is a cute town. My gr gr grandfather was at Fort Niagara and was muster out of War of I812 at Fort Erie.

Was just talking to a member who has a relative buried at Fort Niagara and told him I would post a beautiful pic I took of it across the river (from the Canadian side) this summer. Hope this might be of interest to anyone with relatives who were once stationed at Fort Niagara. The gazebo in the foreground incidentally is the gazebo from the movie The Dead Zone.

P.S. For those who might be interested, the website for the bicentennial commemoration of the war here in Niagara is Discover1812.com. We have war dead here from Canada, the U.S., Great Britain and also the native war dead from the war. I'm uploading a pic of the plaque commemorating the U.S. War Dead from the cemetery for any of the Americans who haven't made it to the site. Hope this brings you some comfort. :)
