I have Tarchala, Tarhalla I can not find on a 1910 census. They are here I know. They had a child born in May 1910 in Elizabeth, Allegheny Co. and I have that record. The birth certificate reads Tarhalla but the nurse crossed out Turchawa. An L with a tilda through it in Polish is pronounced as a W. They are on the Washington County census in 1920 town of Robinson and 1930 town of Smith and in 1942 when Walter Tarhalla applied for Naturalizan papers they lived in Bulger. where they remained.

HI Di ! My Sala ancestors are also allegedly from Allegheny county in 1910. I & several others could not find them there nor anywhere else in the USA. Hmm... What's with the indexing for Allegheny County, I wonder?

I am looking for information on my family who settled in Pittsburgh from Germany. My great grandfather, Mathias Gehles, a blacksmith enlisted in the 74th Pennsylvania infantry, a German speaking regiment and was killed at Freeman's Ford in Virginia on August 22, 1961. Anyone else have knowledge of the 74th? I am also looking for Kinzer/Kinzler/Kinser, Gales, Miller, and Troeter. The Millers had a brickyard and a tavern.
