I am making progress My Great Great Grandfather Phineas West in Fayette County PA. My research and data directed me to a book (and website) The Wests of Duck Creek Harrison County West Virginia by William F Donnelly. Identification of the person you belong to is good and these families had multiple children spreading throughout USA. I purchased the book from a nearby Genealogy Society in WV., I have ancestors a part of WV statehood.
In addition to being related to Charity West and therefore her father William Nelson West, I am also related to a Constant West and her father Robert West (Maryland). Does anyone have either of these in your family tree or know whether the two lines are related?
My 4th great-grandfather is William Nelson West (1775 NC-1846 MS) through his daughter, Chastity. Willam Nelson West is the "brick wall" in this line. My DNA results show William Nelson West as sharing 8-3,476 cm. I am also shown to have the same value with Thomas Oliphant West II so I am trying to determine if Thomas is a sibling to William or a possible parent. Have any of you run across any of these names in your family line of research?
Hoping to find any information on Stephen Sharpe West, born about 1814 in Parson Drove, Cambridgeshire. I have bits here and there, but I'd like to create a full profile.
Seeking any information on John West, born 1715 in Rehoboth MA, and died 1787 in Rhode Island.
Interested in family of Claiborne Dandridge West, born 1759 in Buckingham (then Albemarle) County, VA. He died in 1822 in KY.

My g grandmother was Arsula West whose father was William West (married Cassandra Walters): his father was Jefferson West (married Nancy Sudduth); his father was Richard West (married Charity Dickerson); his father was Littleberry West (married Tabitha South); his father was William West(married Keziah Martin?); his father was Francis West(married Susanna Littlepage). I can get them to Mississippi and East Texas but lost them in the swamp. I would appreciate any assistance.
So very true, DWest. Has anybody on this board joined the West DNA Project? My grandfather is going to take the test and that might help us figure out our major groups. Here's the link: West DNA Project
Thank you Susan, and Jennifer, I am watching this board, as the families seem to be large and siblings moved around. My Great Grandfather moved away from Fayette County PA (from a very large family, to Iowa and d. in Kansas. My quest is the West line to Mathew West, b 1598 and d England, 1659 and the pieces in between as there was activity in NJ and RI. As I mentioned, families were large, and sometimes siblings moved away like my Great Grandfather.
Susan,
Darn, I think we're not researching the same line then. Mine were geographically different. That's the futility of such a common surname sometime. Back to the drawing board!
