I forgot to add that James' son,Thomas Wesley Wilkerson (my line) started the "Wilkerson" name. So it went from Wilkins in the 1840 census to"Wilkinson" in the 1850 census  and then "Wilkerson" by the 1880 one. It pays to look for all variations of a given name =)

Hi. Researching James Wilkinson born 1805 in NC, first spotted in 1840 Campbell County Ga census as James Wilkins. Living near a Sidney Wilkinson whose father is Robert. He was in Benton Cty,Ala by 1850. He says his father was born in NC and his mother SC on the census. He married Elizabeth Harris, daughter of Sterling/Starling Harris and Elizabeth. This has been my brickwall for so long. anyone know of this branch? thanks!

Does anyone have information on the birth or parents of Alvin Wilkinson.  He was in the 13th Reg US Army during the War of 1812, and received  bounty land in Pike County, Illinois, USA,  where I assume he died.  This was probably SW Kearney's Regiment.  He seems to have had sons named William and John born abt. 1803.

I am interested in information about the Wilkinson family who lived in Hamsterley, Durham, England. Thomas Wilkinson (1869-1908) married Anne Irene Heslop (1878-1955). He was the second son of George Wilkinson and Mary Anne Thompson.

George, I downgraded the World Deluxe Membership on Ancestry so I can only check US records. Perhaps someone here can find it for you. Do you have any more info on your Mary?

Hello. I descend from THOMAS M. WILKINSON, son of JOHN WILKINSON and CLARISSA MATHEWS. He was born 1828, Pike Co., ILLINOIS; died unknown. He married 1850, in Madison Co., Iowa to NANCY JANE BRINSON. They were pioneer citizens of Winterset, Iowa. Thomas was a Civil War veteran of the 4th Iowa Cavalry. He was wounded, captured, and interred at Andersonville Prison, but he survived the ordeal. I know little about JOHN WILKINSON, other than he was born c1800 in Virginia, and appears to have resided in Kentucky before Illinois. Some of the descendants spelled their name WILKISON and WILKERSON. I am seeking to make a connection with the correct Wilkerson family who would be John's parents.
