Hi to everyone.
Thanks for the invitation to join the Wiltshire group. My name is Lyn Law and I am in Cornwall. My main areas of Wiltshire are Wooton Rivers, Milton Lilbourne, Stratton St Margaret. Surnames include Goddard, Bush, Carey, Bailey Dellar, Alexander and Harmour. This is my mother's side. Her father (my grandfather)Charles Richard Harmour left his family when she was born and was not heard of again. I have traced his family to Wiltshire on his mother's side Mary Jane Bush.

My main areas in Wiltshire cover Castle Combe, Hilperton, Bradford, Melksham and Trowbridge. Time frame: 1791-1911 and certain records to 1930's.

Surnames include: BARNETT, SWAIN, CHAPMAN and to a lesser degree,
DANIELS, LONG AND LIGHT. This is my husband's line. I have much information but am always looking to tie up loose ends. All information is sourced.

I forgot earlier to explain that 'FOOTNOTE' only has FREE access in December for 'referred' searchers. You can gain access to the site via a recommendation by me, as I subscribe to it. Let me know if you'd like me to send you the link. Dot

Hello Shauna
On the 15th September I left a message in this forum about the Wiltshire Wills Project, but as you are new to the group you may not have had a chance to look at earlier messages.
Have you looked at the Wiltshire Wills website which publishes an index of Wills held at the Wiltshire Archives? http://history.wiltshire.gov.uk/heritage/index.php
You can search for surnames, or places. These are available to buy in hard copy or in some cases as a download from the site. Try all versions of the surname spelling and check the parishes, which will show you all available Wills and 'Admons' for that place - a good way to pick up families which connect to yours. Hope you find someone.

Have you contacted the MULCOCK One Name Study which is registered with the Guild of One Name Studies? E-mail mulcock@one-name.org
There are many other Wiltshire names being researched as a One Name Study - I have added a link to their web site in the Welcome section above.

Hi

I mentioned on Sep 1st that I was searching for Christopher Henry Lodge Thomas. I found him marrying ruby Ross in Stoke Newington in 1939, but nothing in the war Dead, Civilian dead, PoWs or BMDs since... Is he a hundred years old, sitting in a home somewhere????

Additional mystery.... his father died when his mother was 2 months pregnant... but I cannot find his grave anywhere in Wiltshire. The Wiltshire History Centre is equally baffled. A pregnant woman now without an income would not take her dead husband back to London, then return to west Lavington to give birth to his son! So I now have TWO missing forefathers!

regards,

RouX

My Wiltshire connections lie in Donhead St Andrew. My paternal grandfather was from the Haime(s) family, who lived there until the early 1900s. In addition, my paternal grandmother was a Gurd. While she was not born in Wiltshire, her father was, also in Donhead St Andrew.

I have researched both my Haime(s) and Gurd connections back several generations.

I am looking for the birth and parents names of Jeffrey Collier and Ann Russell.
Jeffrey and Ann Married in 1771 at Hilmarton Wiltshire. I have hit a brickwall with these two. I think they were born around 1751 but am unsure.Any help appreciated.
Thank you
