Welcome to the Worldwide Clohessy Clan a Sept of The Dalcassian of Thomond or The Tribe of Dal gCais. The Clan has been accepted for membership in the Tribe of Dal gCais Clan List of over 170 Dalcassian Family names. O CLOCHASAIGH - CLOHESSY, CLOGHESSY, CLOHESSEY, CLOHESY, CLOSSEY are descendant from the Ui Toirdelbhaig Sept at the townland of Ballycloghessy (Barony of Islands), Clondagad, Clare and in Limerick. The town of Ballycloghessy still exists in County Clare to this very day and indicates the exact location of the Sept. From County Clare the Sept moved into County Limerick and became so established in that County that today their descendants are even more numerous than in their original homeland. This site is a collection of what could be called Septs of the Clohessy Clan. A Sept being a distinct family surname or distinct branches of families, in this instance that name and those branches are Clohessy. As members join and I receive more information I will add a new Sept to the site and continue to add information as it becomes available. The existing entries on the site will be re-named to reflect the elder member of the family.
