I have researched my father's line Lalonde and am trying to do my maternal line Fortin. Have had nothing but trouble with that one becasue my gg Joseph Fortin came from Montreal Quebec and he was an orphan raised by the nuns in a convent. Haven't got the foggest idea where to go with that one..maybe I should look for him but don't know his parents names. I do know who he married. Where do I get marriage licenses from Ste Marthe? Marie Chartrand was baptised there.but don't know what to do to get the info. HELP??please

Debbie,
Fortunately the Catholic Church records are complete and accessible. The only problem I can see is that your family lineage is very common as there are thousands of Lalondes and Fortins. I know a few Fortins so I will start there for you. The internet is a great tool to get somewhere abet slowly, but somewhere. Let’s keep in touch, as my email address is raymarentette@rogers.com. I am also on facebook with very interesting historical family stories.
