Hi Gwynn,
Hope you are mending rapidly! Thanks so much for the information on the Riddells. Where did your family migrate to in the U.S.? Mine went to Indiana, I probably told you that!
Oh, I have to add, I grew up very close to Palmyra, WI. I went to Mukwonago, Waukesha, WI., to school, until we moved back into Walworth County, outside of East Troy, where I finished school. I was born in Elkhorn, Walworth County. I had some cousins in Palmyra, at one time. But have lost track of them. The surname Coon, isn't familiar to me. We seem to have some interesting events that are the same.
Take care, Cindy
Hi - I saw your Avery note. My Averys are stuck in Northern PA (Bradford Co. and Chemung and Steuben Cos. in NY Do any of the ones you are researching come thru there? There was an Abijah Avery who I think went to Wisconsin.
I also saw your note about Coon. I have a friend who was a Coon and grew up in Iowa. Her mother still lives there. There is a Congdon in Gillett PA who tioes in with my Averys there in Bradford Co PA. Also I have photographs of some Darling tombstones in Vermont. If any of that rings a bell let me know.
Thanks for the good words. You might mention my other website www.identifinders.com where you can read about Mr. Smithers-Gray as well as many of the other cases I'm working on. I am sure you will be fascinated.
I just noticed your Groton and Mystic Connecticut posts. :) We lived in Groton for 21 years while my husband was in the Navy. :) We know the area well! :)
Anyway, on the Kuehns ... my line came from Germany in about 1882, starting with William C F Kuehn/Keehn and his wife Wilhemine (Minnie) Petruck. Their first four children; August, Ernstina, William C and Tillie were all born in Germany. The next two; Ernest and Frank were born in Wisconsin around Watertown. There were two other children but I haven't identified them yet. That's as far back as I have confirmed information so far. No signs that any of them were in New York or Chicago.
We do have a mystery or two with the Kuehns ...We have an Arthur Ruger born in 1888 in Wisconsin .. I think! His parents are the mystery. On his death certificate they're listed as Augusta Keehn and Luey Luning of Wisconsin. We assume he was born out of wedlock but I don't have an Augusta Keehn in our list. I think he was brought up by William C F so I'm wondering if Augusta was WIlliam's daughter? And one of the chidren I haven't confirmed? Ahh, the joys of mysteries! :)
I'll be happy to watch out for those names. :)
I have Clayton Dick Herbert's obit. It's where I got what little info on him I have as far as the railroad goes. Just would love to know when he lost his leg and where. Oddly, the family didn't talk about so many things. Frustrating for we geneaologists! ;)

What are you looking for on your Kramer/DeYoung line? I suppose you already searched Tresoar?
BTW, there is also a Friesland group here on Genealogy Wise.
