Thanks Wendy, look forward to hearing from you. This being all a bit of the unknown to me, but getting there I think!!! Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!!
Best wishes Chris
Thank you Wendy. Yes, I am aware of the Oddy One-Name study, and have been in touch with her. One-name studies seem to me, from the little I know, a very interesting idea, especially with a rather uncommon name. How did this become your speciality?
Thanks for your invite to join your group. At the moment I am fully occupied with several other groups on Genealogy Wise and elsewhere so won't join your group at present.
Hi Wendy, when you suggested joining the England group I was a tad confused that all I got was the flag, it transpires you have to join the group to see the links

Hello Wendy I am Relatively New to Genealogy but heres what I have learned from my sister-in law My Dad's Family Came from Oldham England early 1800s John Mills
I thought about joining the England group but it is very wide and as I have joined quite a few more specifice groups and might be swamped for a while, I will wait and see how I progress.
Hi Wendy, thanks for the comment about the Kendrick One-Name Study. I am aware of it, but haven't visited lately. It's probably time to check out updates. Thanks!
Thanks for the welcome Wendy.
My main interests are Buckingham from the 1700's mainly in Hailey, Witney but other areas, James from the 1700's in Woodstock and Cogges plus Holtham, Holtom in Charlbury, Chipping Norton for the same period
Thanks Wendy. I already get the monthly e-mail from that website. Jeffrey Bassett was kind to send me all of the information for my lineage of the Bassett family when they came to America. I will be doing my search from William Bassett back to England.
Hi Wendy
I'm a member of the Sussex group, and do support it, and will in the future be adding to it, as for my West Sussex site, it will be covering the history of the people more than the Genealogical view, I am now entering the parish Church BMD dates of the original registers, for West Sussex, and i hope to enter this onto the Sussex site when it is complete, that's if it is wanted there, and retain a copy on West Sussex, the trouble is that if i create a Discussion on the Sussex site, in the future i will not be able to add to it, unless i use the comments box on Sussex!!!,
Hi wendy
I'm a bit slow in getting back, I would like to join the English group.
I have Webb family members going back to John Webb born about 1744
This is the North Nibley, gloucestershire line. He was married to Mary Perrett on 10 July 1763 and had 5 boys and 2 girls.
Now that Ancestry have indexed England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892.
Could you tell us how to find the relevant information in Oxfordshire as I have never done any research into criminal ancestors
I have all the Artiss entries from JOJ on the BL site from the Gale earlier free trials. I have been thinking about buying the OFHS Quarter sessions records since it came out but it appears it is of no interest to me if there are no Art?(s)s entries.
So it looks like it will go onto the back burner until the possiblity of me getting to see the Calendars of Prisoners, at ORO.
Thanks for your emails. My father's mother's family Pooles and Gardners came from Oxfordshire originally. The Pooles from Windrush Taynton and Stonesfield in Oxfordshire and the Gardners from Brize Norton.
Sue
Hi Wendy,
My third g grandfather Francis Norton was born in Tasburgh in 1790. He attained a position of "Clerk Comptroller for Her majesty's household". A spot he held for 14 years. He later started a business with his son, Henry, at 1 York street, st james. Henry's son Harry immagrated in 1879.
You asked whther I was aware of the Chapman one-name study. I am aware of one but the last time I looked it was almost entirely dedicated to Chapman in the USA
Thanks for inviting me to the Oxfordshire Genealogy group however despite living in Oxfordshire (not far from Marlow) I have no Family history in this county. I wish I did!
Hi Wendy
I wondered if you could clarify something please. In 2007 I bought the WIT01 CD from the Holford Centre. I have been putting in a concerted effort to record all my BUCKINGHAM ancestors so have been trawling through the CD. I have been adding lots of marriages and have come across a comment elsewhere that marriages took place In Hailey but were recorded in Witney register only. Is this true and if so how can you tell where they took place ? I see some have both parties places of residence as Hailey are these the Hailey marriages?
One other question could you please tell me if the Hailey marriages from 1854 have been transcribed or are only the originals available. Thanks Robyn
