LeAnn,
I think the name would be Šilaikis or Šilkaitis....the Š is a sh sound in English. You'll have to figure out which. I bet that Soloki is the town of Salakas, Zarasai 32007, Lithuania. It's nestled in between lots of lakes, about 15 miles from the border with Belarus to the east, and about 10 miles from the border of Latvia to the north...basically, the top right corner of Lithuania. I bet it's beautiful with all those lakes.
Correction!! I just searched "Šil" for the Zarasai region and the name that comes up is Šileikis. And NO Šilkaitis. So it must be Šileikis...and there are only 22 listings, so I think you should do a letter writing campaign to them!!
Richie, Thank you so much for the information. Where did you do your search?
Does it have names and addresses so that I can write to them? I know that there is a site that translates your letters into different languages. I am excited to find out anything about his family back in Lithuania. Did you just use Google?
