    Also, nearby, lived:
Acuña, Antonio 50 Self Laborer bMex FbMex MbMex

An Araujo family related, perhaps, to Maria Acuña, Manuel’s wife, also lived nearby.

By 1900 Manuel had died, probably about 1887 and Maria had relocated to Colton, San Bernardino County CA. The Census for that year shows:
Acuña, Maria 51 Head bMex FbMex MbMex
Manuella 20 Dau. bCA FbMex MbMex
Manue l7 Son Day Laborer bCA FbMex MbMex
Abril, Carmelita 17 Gr Dau bCA FbMex MbMex
This census shows that Maria had 10 children, 7 of whom were living in 1900; that she lived on a farm and it was not mortgaged. It also shows that Maria was born in August 1848, Manuella in December 1879, Manuel in August 1882 and Carmelita Abril in June 1883.

In 1883 Rosa Acuña, (Manuel and Maria Acuña’s oldest daughter) and Benjamin Short had a daughter named Carmen. She was born 23 January, 1883 at San Luis Obispo, CA. Nothing further has been learned about Benjamin Short but on 16 Sep. 1886 Rosa married
Espirorian Abril at San Bernardino, CA. Carmen described Espirorian as Frank Abril, step-father and said that she had been raised in a convent. She was married three times. First to Le Roy Conrad whom she divorced; then to John H. Barrows whom she also divorced and lastly to Reginald R. Fry. Carmen died 4 July 1963 at Riverside, CA.
