Hi Chris,My GGrandfather was a Bartholomew O`Brien, born somewhere in Co Cork around 1833.He married a Mary Anne McCarthy and came to australia with their son John O`Brien (my Grandfather) around 1865.Bartholomew`s father was also a John o`brien, mother Margaret O`Donovan.Perhaps there is a connection somewhere.i would love to know what area of CO CORK THEY CAME FROM .REGARDS GLENIS25@IPRIMUS.COM.AU

Yes,I`m sure my Bartholomew was not an only child,as they always called their children after their relations.I`m thinking my Bartholomew probably also had a brother John after the father.it also seems to run in the family. My Bartholomew`s second name was Cornelious, any of them in your family?I will keep plugging away. regards Glenis

Hi. I can give you more information about Roger Joseph O'Brien, his wife Sarah and son George (Thomas George Patrick O'Brien). Roger was my sister-in-law's great grandfather, and George's daughter is still living near Loughborough. I have a photo of Roger, Sarah and George taken about 1912/ 1913. George's daughter remembers being taken to see her great grandmother, Catherine/ Kate, in Empress Road, and both she and my sister-in-law have memories of visiting the great aunts, Julia and Mary.
