Hi Glenis. Thanks for the reply. I suppose there is a possibility that my Batholomew was the son of a sibling of your Batholomew, and named after him. We've only just really started our search (after a visit from Loughborough, England where we live to Cappoquin earlier this month) and had some great help from the Parish Priest. But to find the birthplace of Bartholomew and his eldest, Michael, might take a lot of effort and some luck!
No we don't seem to have a Cornelius as far as I know. Most of Bartholomew & Catherine's children were given traditionally Irish names - Michael, Thomas, Patrick, Mary and Julia. There was also a Roger 'known as Rodey' and an Ellen, a name which was passed down to the next generation as my own Grandmother was also an Ellen. They all moved to England in 1901 and as far as I know all stayed there. The only exception is Roger (b1885) who married in England in 1908 but then seems to have strayed from everybody's memories. We doing research on him now!
