What surnames are you interested in researching?: I've been researching for 15 years, so I have a lot. My major families of concern right now are Gatton (OH); Baker, Hottel and Longanecker in VA; Clements, Oliver, and Houchins in VA; Wells in MD; Berryman, Buckalew, Clawson, Stockton in NJ, Cooper in IN.

What countries and other locations are you interested in researching?: Eastern American seaboard, Cornwall, Channel Islands

What is your level of genealogy knowledge?: Advanced Family History Researcher

If you are a genealogy expert, what are your specialties?: I'm not an expert, but I have experience researching Northeastern Algonkin Indian people.

It only lists David Skeeters (60-70), a female (60-70) and a young female (10-20), presumably a grandchild or other family or perhaps a servant. James Skeeters along with sons Willis and Greenberry remained in Iroquois County until their deaths. I have also found a Land Patent for David Skeeters in Iroquois County. One was cancelled in 1854; the other (76 acres) was issued April 3, 1861. I was really intrigued when I first read your info. My mother's name is Catherine (Skeeters) Turner!!

My Skeeters were in Kentucky, Parke County IN and then Iroquois County Illinois. In the 1855 Illinois census there is a David Skeeters who could fit the age of your David, i.e 60-70 years. My other Skeeters, all in close proximity, are James (also 60-70 who is my ggg grandfather), his sons D.P., Joseph, and Willis (my great, great grandfather). Do you information linking this to your research?

I am pleased to announce that my peer-reviewed research paper on my ancestor John Van Gelder has been published in New York State Museum Bulletin 511, Mohican Seminar 3, The Journey, An Algonquian Peoples Seminar, edited by Shirley W. Dunn. My paper, "The Impact of John Van Gelder: Mohican, Husbandman, and Historic Figure," is Chapter 10. Cluster Genealogy in Shenandoah Co., VA

Since I haven't been able to find Esther Longenacker in Shenandoah County records yet, I decided to start with cluster genealogy. The bondsman for her marriage to Adam G. Baker was Adam Poke. It took a while to find out that his last name has also been recorded as Polk, Fuchs and Fox. Last night I found out that he attended the Old Pine Church in the county that was Lutheran and German Reformed.
