I am primarily researching my father's line - Walker. The furthest that I can go back is to a Thomas Walker from Ireland who came to South Carolina - Ninety-six District, specifically Cuffetown Creek in 1771. He was granted land that bordered other Walker families, John Walker Jr. and Isabel Walker, Francis and James Walker and John and William Walker. Thomas fled to Nova Scotia (New Brunswick now) about 1782-84 having served with the British during the revolutionary war. Our DNA Group on Family Tree DNA is #23. Three other members in that group all reside in either Texas, Georgia or Alabama. My family came down to Michigan from Canada around 1835.
