30% Discount on New Ancestry.com Memberships

I'd heard about this a while back, but just today verified it for myself - and it's true!  If you go to your local LDS Family History Center, all of which are free to use and open to the public, and ask them to show you how to use their library version of Ancestry.com through their "portal", from the opening screen there will be a "sign up" offer on the right side of the screen. When you enter your email address, it will email you an… Continue

Death, Deceit and a Couple of Sea Captains

A while back, my niece's husband asked me if I would help him look into his ancestry. (He thought that perhaps his family had “come from whales”.) Seeing as he was and still is serving our country in the Air Force, I was happy to see what I could help him find. In addition to showing him how to do basic census records research, I ran some searches on several of the online digitized book sites. We were both amazed at what I found about one of his ancestors in a book on HeritageQuest --…

Almost 1000 folks using my genealogy toolbar, and then I'm giving away a copy of RootsMagic 4!

I've posted here before about the free browser toolbar that I created, that is all genealogy websites, making it so much easier to do genealogy research online. (If you havent heard about it, its free, no ad/spy/malware - and every site on it is handpicked, or recommended to me). Anyway, I was adding a few sites to the Internet Genealogy browser toolbar this morning and happened to check the stats on… Continue

Thanks Tami. Had a look at your blog. My husband and I maintain a website at www.pidgeon.info which does need a bit of a shake up and I am a local and family history librarian for a regional public library service in Victoria, Australia and maintain two blogs:
Yarra Plenty Genealogy: http://ypgenealogy.blogspot.com/
and Yarra Plenty Local History : http://yplocalhistory.blogspot.com/

Tami, thanks for getting back to me. Probably no link as all mine that I know of started in Essex & then moved to the New Forest which is Hampshire/Wiltshire.

John Roland Lloyd and his father Roland Lloyd all stayed in PA. John Roland Lloyd's wife and kids migrated to Utah in the late 1800's. I am trying to find the grave of John Roland Lloyd buried in one of the cemeteries in Rochester, PA.
It is listed as Rochester Cemetery but when I do a search on it........Not finding it. This is coming from records his son Gilbert wrote in his life story. And was handed down through the family after he passed.
