I just joined Genealogy Wise and was doing a search on some of the names I'm researching, and stumbled upon your page with the McNeely name. Thats actually on my wife's side of the family (African American) , but I was intrigued because of your location in Butler, AL. My wife's McNeely ancestors are from Choctaw County going all the way back to the days of slavery. We know they got their surname from a Dr. John N. McNeely in Choctaw County. Given your location (and assuming your McNeely's have been in that location for generations?), I was wondering if you might be related to him and have any additional info. Thanks.
I descend War of 1812, 3rd U.S. Infantry, Col. Gilbert Christian Russell, Sr., of Abingdon, Va., and Mobile, Alabama. Russel Co., AL, was named for him. My Christopher Robinson was from 1730's Exerer, N.H.
