According to "Records of Officers and Men of New Jersey in the Civil War" Vol. 1, William Augustus Tallman reached rank of Corporal. Enrolled Sept. 1, 1862. Must'd In.: Sept. 22, 1862. Period: 9 months. Must'd Out.: June 25, 1863. Company C, 22nd Regiment. Became corporal on April 7, 1863
