Oh yes. STL has death and birth records early on. They are available through the Missouri State Archives or the STL Gen. Society on microfilm. A request to the Missouri State Archives can be made for a search via the sos website: sos.mo.gov.

Hildesheim is locatd just outside of Hanover. From one of my lines, there is a cathedral there which still has marriage/birth records from at least 1833...probably longer. The people who came from Hanover to the US usually came into New Orleans to STL. They often came through Breman. There was going to be a Breman project but I haven't checked it out. There are some ship records available on ISTG (think that is the right). Check Cindi's List for a link.
