I'm looking at your George BOYCE b. 1806 who married Caroline PICKETT again to see if they link with my line. Have you discovered anything more about George in the last few years?. I'm pretty sure I've found him in 1841 census in For Posts with a William PICKETT and two other BOYCE males George & William who were carpenters.

I am descended from Moses c 14 Jul 1806. His granddaughter Elizabeth bp 14 Apr 1871 is my Grandmother. Incidently there were two elder children of James and Elizabeth Cannons ie, Fanny bp 2 Aug 1863 and Ellen b 26 Mar 1865 both in East Wellow and two younger James bp 8 Jul 1883 and Henry apt 1886

- Hello Chris, Thank you for your comment. I am unable to trace any connection at the moment. My line is from John Sellens m Joan Hatcher 25/12/1704 at Lockerley,Hants. Other areas include Braishfield,East Wellow,Hursley and Romsey.

Spelling, my thoughts on the subject

Thought I would mention this as I have found some instances where folks say the spelling of surnames and place names are not correct and can't be their ancestor. But when you go back in time and folk learnt to write they all wrote the words phonetically, i, e, o and y can all be transposed. Gibbins, Gibbons, Gybbons, Gebbens. etc. So keep an open mind and think about the local dialect, the speaker may have a cold, or a lisp!!
