I joined GW on the first day - don't know what number I was, probably six hundred-and-something. One thing that attracted me was the ability to connect with others who are researching the same surnames as me, in an environment where all had the same interests - genealogy, family history and the like. I watched for hours and days as the membership grew and grew and grew.
Every day I search the member list for my surnames that are a bit less common, but I didn't know how uncommon they…

I have only looked at Dewsbury much earlier (pre 1653) so I do not have details that you want. Have you looked at the IGI? It shows that Samuel & Mary Leeming had 4 children at Dewsbury; John 1833, Emma 1836, Elizabeth 1838 & Thomas Stapleton 1841. You could get the birth certificate for Elizabeth or Thomas. That would give you Mary's maiden name. It might also be wothwhile you looking at the Dewsbury film at your local LDS family history centre where you can confirm the IGI entries and perhaps find a marriage.
Regards, Tony.
Are your Roe's from MD? I have been researching the Roe family on the Eastern Shore of MD for over 20 years.

On the small" x" deal I find I can delete a posting and the problem is the "x" is not showing up on my black background in white like it did before. As long as I see the "hand" I can delete a post. I might have to change the colors. It's odd that it showed white before and not now so it must be either a black "x" or some other dark color. Weird. I wonder if anyone else with black backgrounds are having an issue. I'll check that out.
There was that small x on my page I often used but today it's not there today for some reason. As to that scammer there's lots of information on the Internet about it. It's the biggest scam going right now. We don't need that on GenWise for sure.
I'll have to find out why I'm not betting the little x anymore. Maybe it's a temporary glitch, I don't know. Hopefully, that will be solved soon.
Thanks again for your input. The more people that complain about scammers on GenWise; the better.
My Yates are Thomas born in Naunton, Gloucestershire in 1848. His father Richard born 1808 in Lower Guiting, Gloucstershire and his father Thomas Yeates born about 1775, I think in Gloucestershire. I don't think any of my Yates' lived in Lancashire, so I don't think we have a connection. Good luck in your search.
