Hi Deena, your comment got caught up in my spam account, I just retrieved it today! Right now, I'm working on some other surnames, but want to keep in contact - I will get back to the Campagna branch soon - Later, Phyllis
Hi Deena, I don't know the answer to your question about "Basso," but something was niggling at me and I just pulled out my research files - the main part of the Campagna family IS from Termini Imeresse - not sure how the other fits in, I'm not too familiar with the geography there. The surname you mentioned hasn't shown up in my database yet, but as we both know, that doesn't mean too much! I hadn't been working on the Campagna line for awhile, but am willing to get back into it so that we can explore together!
My maiden name is Russell and is why I am interested in Hester's Coutant line. Caleb and Hester left New Rochelle area and went to Harford Twp., Pennsylvania. I don't know why they left NY. Caleb is buried in Harford but I have not been able to find his grave. I have their children as: Hulet, Bishop Asbury, Laban, Emily, Jacob. I have some conflicting info on Bishop Asbury so am not certain about him. My connection is through Jacob.
Hi Deena,
Glad to meet you! The Campagna branch I'm working on is from Termini Basso, Sicily. From the work I've done, I'm guessing that most of the Campagnas in the U.S. are related somehow - would be glad to explore further with you! Also, 'my' Campagna family has alot of relations with the Giunta/Guinta/Junta family from Sicily - do you have that family in any of your branches? Best, Phyllis Campagna
Hi, Deena, I haven't been working on the Coutant line for quite some time. My connection is through Hester Coutant born 23 Mar 1760 in New Rochelle, NY who married Caleb Russell born 18 Mar 1763 in Nantucket, MA. They married about 1788 in New Rochelle. Her father was Jacob Coutant and mother Jeanne Arnaud. Have very little information on Hester.
