,My great grandfather William Noble married Anne Finnegan in 1902 and they had the following children William, Alice(my grandmother) Elizabeth ,Anne and Maggie and they lived in Sandhills Monaghan. When Willliam a protestant married Anne (Catholic) his mother and sisters left for America or Canada. I am interested in tracking this branch of my family.

Hi Liz, nice to hear from you.
A couple of years ago I was researching the Noble family that lived at Annaveagh Townland, Currin Parish and found the Sandhills Nobles were related so I looked into them as well.
I found that Isabella and her two youngest daughters, Julia and Alice immigrated to New York City. They left Northern Ireland from Londonderry on November 29 1902 and arrived New York City. Isabella age 56, Julia age 15 and Alice age 11 ½ were listed on the passenger list of the Ethiopia Victory mastered by S. Lumsdane (I think I have a copy of the passenger list somewhere ... will have to dig it up)
Bella Noble, age 60 and her youngest child Alice Noble age 18 were enumerated in the 1905 New Jersey census living in County Essex. Alice Noble married George Dougherty, Essex County, New Jersey, USA around 1910. George worked for the railroad and fathered two children:
i. Matilda Dougherty was born 1912. Circa 1932, she married Linden T. Estell who was born April 11 1907 and died February 6 1988, West Orange, Essex, New Jersey. They had at least one child
ii. Noble Dougherty born 1916 married a woman named Ingrid and was enumerated in the 1940 US census living in Ward 2, East Orange City, Essex County, New Jersey. Noble D. Dougherty, salesman for a tire manufactury was age 24 and Ingrid W., secretary, born Sweden was age 25.
In the 1910 US census, Alice Dougherty age 23, her husband George age 23 and her mother Isabella Noble age 58 were enumerated living Ward 3 Bloomfield, Essex County, New Jersey.
In the 1920 US census for New Jersey, George Dougherty age 32, his wife Alice age 33, daughter Matilda L. age 8, son Noble age 4 and mother-in-law Isabelle Noble age 78 were living in Ward 3, Bloomfield, Essex County.
George age 41, Alice age 42, daughter Matilda age 19 and son Noble Dougherty age 14 were enumerated in the 1930 US census living in Bloomfield, Essex County, New Jersey.
George age 51 (coal clerk for railroad), Alice age 52, Matilda age 29, Linden age 33 (aviation drill press operator) and Alice age 7 are listed in the 1940 US census for New Jersey, Essex County all living in the same house in Ward 3, Bloomfield.
As yet I have found nothing of Isabelle's other daughter, Julia.
Hope this helps a little.
I also found the will of Isabelle's husband William in the online Will section at the PRONI, if you haven't seen it yet. Also have a copy of their marriage cert. if you don't have it.
Contact me directly at my email "praetor1@sympatico.ca" and we can exchange other specific information.
