Fidelma, thanks for your message!  Well most of the Cahalanes started out in West Cork! Would love to trade information with you! It’s a huge group and frequent apparent double entries, which is part of the fun, disentangling the variously families and ascertaining who is who.... quick example... 1913 ships manifest too Boston.. Mary cahalane listed twice... same age, both from Clounkeen West (sometimes called Clonkeen)... one had to be my ancestor... Handwritten entries t.g., printed ones fewer details.   Anyway, both ladies had their fathers listed, my great grandmother was not listed. Think I have made a hames of this, nicely highlighting the problem.... my ggm stayed home worked the farm.... my mother said “we pulled turnips until our fingers bled”
