Hello
I am the daughter of Earl S. Cruse of Dayton, Ohio. I have been searching about the Cruse name for many years & have us to Pennsylvania, but cannot find who came there from Devon. Our name has always been spelled CRUSE and this block is pretty frustrating. Can you help? It is possible that John Cruse is the last one I can find in PA, but am not sure he is actually ours or exactly where he came from. Thanks,SJC

Hello, Gordon,
Thanks for offering to check out Halberton on your next visit - very much appreciated.
FYI, I have attached, here, a scan of the other side of the picture postcard. Details are scant when trying to piece together and /or extrapolate information contained in this handwriting. That said, we do know that in or about 1904 Harold James SHELLEY and his 2 sons, Harold A and William HE (possibly the "Bill" in the postcard note) visited the UK following the premature death, while giving birth, of HJ'swife and the boys' mother, Jane SHELLEY (nee LOWE). The postcard's signatory, "Bill", in referring to "g/father ... mother's grave" could therefore be possibly identifying the resting place of either one or more of the following sets of 'grandparents' : [a] William Henry SHELLEY / Margaret Eliza SHELLEY (nee BATH)' or [b] William LOWE / Jane LOWE (nee EDGAR). All of which is, at best, still my grasping at straws, however, this might prove helpful information when you are in situ at Halberton. Thank you.
Cheers,
VJ
