Thank you for contacting me. Since making my post my mother located her copy of a Montigel genealogy that goes back a few hundred years. I am a descendent of Johann jakob "Jacob" Montigel (b. 1863) who immigrated to Newark, NJ in 1887 from Ludwigstal. He was a Cutler and comes from a long line of metal smiths. According to the genealogy book my mother provided his father was Johann Konrad Montigel (b. 1827), and his father was Konrad Montigel (b. 1796). I can go back a few more generations, but that is all I have easily at hand right now. Who are your Montigels? I may be able to find them in the book I have. It was written in the late 1930's.
