Hi Jackie, I am looking for a family who lived in Santa Monica in the early 1900's, and hope that you might have some suggestions. This is probably more than you want to know, but here is where I am:
Ira C Graham was born in Texas in 1878 to Proctor Alanson Graham and Sarah Vera Caradine. He married Josephine Relyea in March 1904 in Santa Monica.
Josephine was born about 1883 in Massachusetts. I believe that her parents were Chauncy and Bridget Relyea, although she does not seem to be with them in the 1900 census.
From census data, Ira and Josephine's children were Dorothy D, Jessie D, and Clifford P. There is a California death record for Clifford, but I can't find any of the others after 1930. They were in Santa Monice in the census reports. Ira was not with Josephine in 1930, but she was shown as "married".
There is a notice in the LA Times, 4 Nov 1932, of the death of Josephine Graham, services by Pierce Brothers.
I would like to determine if this is "my" Josephine. So, are death records available for that time period? Does the Pierce Brothers connection suggest where she might be buried? What do you suggest?
I have access to Ancestry.com records. Do you have comments or suggestions about where I might learn more about this family?
Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I need help!
