Oh my God, I hope you are not kidding and that you are correct! :)
I identified the right Ellen Hurley only just last weekend at my local family history center. That was after doing MANY Ellen Hurley lookups on rolls of birth register film.
I have on order from GRO the marriage record for John Hurley and Margaret Hourihane.
I've been talking to my elderly Aunt Peg, who was the oldest child in my Mom's family. Her mom (and my grandmother) Mary Collins had a cousin named Annie Sullivan (O'Sullivan), from Lissalohorig. Annie married an O'Donovan, lived in Drinagh, and just died in 2008. Now I think Annie's mother was John Hurley's daughter Annie.
Griffith's Valuation shows a Michael Hurley living in Coolnagarrane in the 1850's. So I think that is John Hurley's father.
Are you in a direct female line of descent from Katie Hurley? The reason I ask is because my mitochondrial DNA is very unusual. For us to both test the same would confirm we are from the same matrilineal lineage. :)
Is your last name the female version of O'Brien? Aunt Peg's husband was Michael O'Brien, but they were from the north.
It would be so great to find a relative! I was in Ireland last summer and visited Skibbereen. I will be there this summer. Where do you live? Are you getting flooded?
If you've got birthdate/death information on Katie Hurley or anybody else in your line, I'd love to have it.
