Hi John~
I am very interested in Mathesons, particularly those with connections to the Red River Settlement (Selkirk Settlers) and also in related Mathesons who settled in New Brunswick. They all came from Kildonan Parish in Sutherland, Scotland, originally, although some moved elsewhere in Scotland (Latheron, Caithness, for example) prior to emigration. Sound familiar?
Hi, John. We;ve had a few John Mathesons test with the Clan Matheson DNA project. So far we've found 13 different lines. It obviously took more than one patriarch rallying around a chief to make up a clan. I've found this pattern in every clan that I have looked it.
We have some interesting stuff on the http://www.clanmathesonusa.org site about genealogy and DNA testing. If you need more information, contact me at alicefairhurst@gmail.com
