BTW, on the island, the surname custom is paternal + maternal surname.
If a woman marries she retains her birth surname and adds "de" + the husband's surname. So, your relative would be María Padilla + mother's surname de García.

Welcome to our group. If your Padilla are from anywhere near Morovis or Corozal, they are probably related to the Otero and Collazo families of that area.
