Hiya Linda-
I did a little census digging on the Hickman/Heckman James's and I see what you mean! LOL :) I saw a James born in 1770s, I think in the 1850 or 1860 census, he was born in PA.
Hi-
I found a death notice for James Heckman, SR who died in 1887 on genealogybannk, Jan 15, 1887. He was a boat builder, in his 76th year, and prominent in various secret societies. I don't know if that helps at all. :)
HI Linda-
I found a James J Heckman who died in Philly Jan, 12, 1887, born in 1811, he was buried at Odd Fellows Cemetery, he was a widower. He lived on Wilder St.
I found it on familysearchlabs, if you have Adobe, you should be able to get the image yourself, if you'd like me to email you the image, please let me know. :)
Hi Linda-
Do you have any little tidbits on his son that might give us a hint on which James is yours?
:) yep, if I lived in Philly I wouldn't have a car, LOL (I'm a native, but only by born there, and spending my 1st 3 years there, I'm convinced I should've been born in the south, LOL)
Do you know if James Hickman(born circa 1774) fought in the War of 1812? Footnote has the PA Archives for free, the PA Archives are also on Google Books.
I have a brick wall for an ancestor born circa 1784, and I was able to 'find' him on the White Pension Index for the War of 1812. There is a good War of 1812 group on Rootsweb, if you haven't tried seareching for him through those channels yet.
